Have you seen many computer networks connected to each other in schools, colleges, hospitals, corporations, companies? Most large corporations interconnect their networks using CAN.
Campus Area Network (CAN) consists of Local Area Network (LAN) which are connected to each other. This technique is not only important for network security. With the help of this technique, all computers in the same network have been interlinked.
What is Campus Area Network
The campus area network, also known as Corporate Area Network and Controller Area Network, is an AISA network made up of Local Area Network (LAN). Or you can understand that CAN is called a network in which more than one LAN is interconnected/interlinked. The CAN network is set up for a particular area that is limited.
Switches and routers are used to connect CAN network to LANs, but they are smaller than Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) in which CAN is operated over a wired or wireless network. That is, the campus user can directly talk to sixty other computers connected to the network.
Access and security
Like other networks, the CAN network can only be accessed by those who are members of the campus team, university team, or corporate team (selected persons/systems). CAN also have an administrator who allows/disallow access to any system coming into the network and can also limit the user’s data.
CAN and the Internet are stacked behind firewalls that prevent systems from accessing them unauthorized. As far as internet speed is concerned, the network of regular internet has a lot of speed in the CAN network as it is a combination of many lanes that works as a single network.
